About the artist
Amara King is a Toronto lens-based artist whose practice is deeply rooted in analog, experimental and hands-on alternative processes. She explores the cultural importance of home in landscapes, memory and belonging through an interplay of materials and techniques.
Amara seeks to amplify the voices and histories of the Caribbean through tactile, sensory-rich works that invite viewers to feel, reflect, and immerse themselves within the ephemeral and enduring spaces we call home. A 2025 recipient of the Gallery 44 Emerging Artist Award, Amara received her BFA in Photography and a Minor in Printmaking from OCAD University.
